Salon 3+3

Six artists.

Different practices, different perspectives, one exhibition.

Salon 3+3 follows art from the studio to the collection — and invites you to take part. Six artists, three from the HOIV artist community and three from outside it, are paired across three practices, so the parallels and the differences within each are right in front of you.

Some pieces might pull you in immediately.

Others might take a little longer.

That’s part of it.

The artists

• Painting & drawing: Stefanie Holler and Dagmar Rohm
• Material-based installation: Daniel Ferstl and Noemi Kiss
• Pop & mixed media: Felix Weisz and Marcin Glod

Curated by Hilary Tsui, founder of CityTransit Arts — an independent curator and art advisor for two decades, who makes contemporary art and collecting easier to get into.

Opening night

You don’t need to know anything about contemporary art. Come because you already care about it, or because you’re curious and want to look.

• 18:00 Doors open, welcome drinks
• 18:30 Curator tour: the three pairs and their practices
• 19:15 Game 1, Learn Contemporary Art: match each artist’s practice to the movements and ideas behind it, with the artists’ own intros
• 19:45 Game 2, Art Market Simulation: a play-money budget to shop for your favourite piece — the choices, doubts and thrills of buying art
• 20:30 Market results: which works sold out, and which have competing buyers?

Two more chances to come back

The exhibition stays at HOIV until 19 November.

• Sat 14 Nov, 14:00–15:30 — ArtCafe: coffee, an art market 101 crash course, and the six artists on how they actually make a living
• Thu 19 Nov, 19:00–21:00 — Finissage & talk: gallerists and collectors from different generations on how they collect art
